EtherLinx v2.0 – first service in the new Linxtelecom Ethernet service portfolio
AMSTERDAM, THE NETHERLANDS, MOSCOW, ST. PETERSBURG, RUSSIA, TALLINN, ESTONIA, WARSAW, POLAND, 3 August 2010 – Linxtelecom, an international connectivity and datacenter services provider, announced today EtherLinx v2.0 as the first service in its new Ethernet service portfolio. "So far, Linxtelecom has been maintaining two Ethernet product lines on two different platforms" explains Jan Jaap Bosschieter, Product Manager at Linxtelecom. "These were called Ethernet over SDH (EoS) and Ethernet over MPLS (EtherLinx) and for each of them we had implemented a number of different flavors to suit the requirements of various customers".
"Although there were good reasons for it at the time, this was becoming too costly and too complex. And since the new Juniper routers enable us to provide all Ethernet products from a single platform, we are now merging all our Ethernet services onto MPLS".
Jan Jaap continues: "EtherLinx v2.0 is the first result of this move. It is the simplest point-to-point service in our Ethernet product line, but it includes support for NNI’s, VLANs – and on transparent PoP-PoP circuits – Jumbo Frames."
With respect to its Operator customers, Linxtelecom is now preparing to release Carrier EtherLinx v2.0, which will support Quality of Service (QoS) and will contain a Service Level Agreement (SLA) on latency, jitter and frame loss. Carrier EtherLinx v2.0 is planned for release in the first quarter of 2011.
With the new EtherLinx portfolio, Linxtelecom is well positioned to serve both Operator and Enterprise customers with services that meet and exceed their widely varying requirements.
